Bonds of friendship that cross borders
In ChildFund Bolivia, we believe in the power of human relationships. That is why we promote bonds of friendship between children and youth in Bolivia and supportive individuals from other parts of the world. These personal connections create trust, hope, and real opportunities to transform lives.
A connection that changes realities
More than 14,000 children, adolescents, and youth are currently participating in our program, which builds connections with our friends from abroad.
These friendships are nurtured in communities across La Paz, Cochabamba, Santa Cruz, Oruro, and Tarija, where we strengthen rights and abilities to build a better future.
Through this connection, our international friends become part of the life story of each child, their family, and their community, supporting their progress in health, education, protection, and participation.
A letter can change a day
Exchanging letters, photos, and messages strengthens the self-esteem, sense of belonging, and joy of children who know there is someone in the world who believes in them. It is not just support, it is emotional accompaniment. And for those who send these messages from afar, it also represents an opportunity to make sense of it, connect, and experience a different reality, through love. It also strengthens their communication skills, a key skill for the development of children, adolescents, and young adults.

What do girls, boys, families and communities achieve with this program?
Connections with our friends from abroad are translated into concrete actions that improve the lives of children, their families, and their communities. This is what it truly means, in practice, to be part of this program:
For children, adolescents, and youth:
Participating in this program allows them to develop life skills that are essential for their personal and social growth. Through safe and educational spaces, they strengthen their ability to:
- Understand, exercise, and defend their rights.
- Prevent all forms of violence, including digital violence, by learning how to protect themselves and support others.
- Make informed decisions, express their ideas, and build relationships based on respect.
- Imagine and create a better future, with tools for sustainability, youth entrepreneurship, and the development of dignified livelihoods.
- Every activity they take part in is designed to empower them, awaken their potential, and accompany them on their path toward a full and safe life
For families and communities:
The program also strengthens families as the primary environment for protection and development for children and adolescents. Through workshops, guidance, and community actions, families and communities are able to:
- Understand and exercise their rights as caregivers and citizens.
- Acquire tools for positive parenting, emotional care, and comprehensive protection.
- Prevent and respond to situations of violence, including gender-based and digital violence.
- Promote safe, inclusive, and participatory environments for all children.
- Develop sustainable economic skills through productive initiatives, savings, financial education, and employability.
These actions not only strengthen individuals but also transform entire communities, promoting a culture of peace, equity, and meaningful development.
By participating in this program, the family accepts the following Parental Agreement
